Schooling in Centerville is unusually easy to map. Under Davis School District’s 2025–26 boundary maps, every home inside Centerville city limits is assigned to Viewmont High School, and nearly every home is assigned to Centerville Junior High. The school that changes from street to street is the elementary: Centerville Elementary, J.A. Taylor, Stewart or Reading, plus a small strip on the south edge that attends Tolman Elementary in Bountiful.
Davis School District also uses a grade layout that surprises many families moving in: elementary runs kindergarten through 6th grade, junior high covers 7th through 9th, and high school is 10th through 12th. Centerville is home to one of the district’s Mandarin Chinese dual language immersion programs, which starts at Stewart Elementary and continues through Centerville Junior High and Viewmont High.

How do school boundaries work in Centerville?
Davis School District assigns every address three schools: an elementary (K–6), a junior high (7–9) and a high school (10–12). These are called your boundary schools.
In Centerville, the elementary school is the one that changes from neighborhood to neighborhood. Nearly every home then goes to Centerville Junior High, and every home inside city limits goes to Viewmont High. A handful of west-side addresses near Porter Lane and 1250 West are assigned to West Bountiful Elementary and Bountiful Junior High.
The district reviews boundaries as enrollment shifts and holds a public hearing before changing them. The changes proposed for 2026–27 were in Syracuse, not Centerville.
How do I check which schools an address feeds?
Use Davis School District’s official Find My School maps: Find My Elementary School, Find My Junior High School and Find My High School. All three are also linked from the district’s Planning page. Type in the full street address and the map shows the assigned school.

Can my child attend a school outside our boundary? (Open enrollment)
Yes, if the school has room. Davis School District calls this a boundary permit. For the 2026–27 school year:
- The early application window runs from November 15 to the first Friday in February. If a school gets more requests than it has seats, the district picks students at random. Families are notified by email in March.
- Late requests open March 1 and are accepted only at schools that still have space, until about three weeks before school starts.
- Current Davis families apply in myDSD under Tools, then Apply for Open Enrollment Permit. Families new to the district call Student & Family Resources at 801-402-5159. Kindergarten requests go directly to the school.
- Parents provide transportation to a school outside their boundary.
- A permit carries over from year to year until your child moves up to the next school level.
Dual language immersion has its own application and does not use a boundary permit. Charter schools take applications directly. Davis School District also runs two online schools, Davis Connect K–6 and Davis Connect 7–12.
How does school choice affect home values in Centerville?
Research shows school boundaries do show up in home prices. In a well-known study, economist Sandra Black found parents paid about 2.5% more for a home when the local elementary school’s test scores were 5% higher. A 2012 study by Brunner, Cho and Reback found that when states let students cross district lines, homes near desirable schools in other districts gained value, because families could attend those schools without moving.
Here’s what that means in Centerville. Every home in the city goes to the same high school, so there’s no high school line inside the city for prices to split along. That makes the price differences between Centerville neighborhoods mostly about the home, the lot, the location and, to a smaller degree, the elementary school. Open enrollment and nearby charter schools loosen the tie between address and school even further. Chinese immersion seats at Stewart are filled by application, not by address.
For buyers, you’re paying for the Centerville Junior High and Viewmont High assignment wherever you buy in town. For sellers, naming your elementary, junior high and high school in your listing helps buyers who search by school. As of July 2026, Zillow put the typical Centerville home value at about $587,000.
Can my child join the Chinese immersion program at Stewart Elementary?
Immersion begins in 1st grade. For 2026–27, the priority application window ran from mid-January to March 1, and incoming kindergartners register at their boundary school first. Openings in later grades are uncommon, so if you’re moving with an older child, ask the school about space before you count on a seat.
